...in the Wind: New Hampshire’s first commercial-scale wind turbine farm, located 30 miles north of Keene, is up and running with 12 turbines producing power for 10,000 homes. Massachusetts Gov. Duval Patrick set the goal of generating 2000 megawatts of wind power in our state by 2020, an effort that may require the installation of as many as 3000 wind turbines. Read more about Massachusetts wind power.
Natural Step Group Meeting Regularly: Amesbury is using the Natural Step process to help their community move towards sustainability. The meeting facilitators are from Portsmouth NH, where the Natural Step process has helped the community make substantial progress. Read about the Natural Step and what Portsmouth NH is doing.
Rain Barrels Available in Amesbury: A win-win for community residents and the environment, Amesbury Chamber of Commerce is selling rain barrels at a reduced cost of $65. You need to place an order by 7/3/09 and pick up in Amesbury. More details. |
Javier Gil, originally from Spain, was raised on an organic olive farm. Luckily for us, he brought his enthusiasm for sustainability to our community. For the past several years, in addition to his organic landscaping business, he has been teaching adult education classes on organic gardening. Javier uses 100% organic materials in his landscaping and leaves his customers with self-sustaining yards. You can read more about Javier and his business at www.j-gil.com. |
